Power Drive System Specialist
Responsibilities
Join us at Xylem for a chance to work with new product development in an inspiring work environment with the world’s leading pump manufacturer and industry leading experts. Together we are delivering innovative technology solutions that solves the challenges of water for our customers.
We are looking for an engaged person who wants to play a central role in the development of products powered and controlled by dedicated power drive system for the water industry.
You will be part of the R&D organization, which delivers software, electronics and mechanics. The organization consists of more than 200 people. The goal is to develop new products with integrated variable frequency drives and maintain existing products. This role will report to the Manager Drive Control Systems and will be part of the bigger team in the Automation and Intelligent Systems department.
This role include:
- Development and experimental verification of embedded SW (C language) on an ARM32 microcontroller for motor control, power electronics control and pump application functions.
- Development of power drive systems simulation models in Mathworks Simulink / Simscape to support the SW development on product HW.
- Hands on work with electronics, power electronics, electrical motors and SW development.
- Test on hazardous voltages (< 1 kV) with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, torque sensors, regenerative back-to-back converters etc.
- Translating customer requirements into product design specifications.
- Type testing new products to demonstrate compliance with regulations and standards such as Low Voltage Directive, EMC directive, IEC/UL 61800 and similar.
- Work in an agile team with short daily standup meetings for team coordination.
- Collaboration with other development teams such as: electrical motors, control systems, sensors, service tools, hydraulics etc.
- Writing expert level documentation on how to install, use and maintain the products.
- Introducing the developed products to the production sites.
- Create, improve and grow our drives test and development laboratory.
- Provide 3rd level support for the global support team.
Qualifications
We believe you are independent, analytical and like to dig into complex situations. You have a strong drive and possess a continuous improvement mindset. You are positive and curious about new solutions and technologies and like to create a good collaborative environment around yourself and your team.
We would like you to have:
- MSc or PhD degree with focus on power electronics, motor control, embedded SW or similar
- Experience from developing motor control solutions, Field-Oriented Control, Matlab/Simulink/Simscape, power electronics, converter/inverters, 3-phase motors, permanent magnet synchronous motors.
- Desire to develop deep understanding of the business and customer needs
- Exceptional inter-personal skills to build great cross-functional working relationships
- Experience working with industrial communication protocols
- Fluent in English both spoken and written
International travel could be required each year.
